FRENCH REVOLUTION LEADER GEORGE JACQUES DANTON DEAD.
Following the controversial corruption charges, the National leader who saw French through the revolution changes was arrested alongside with many of his followers in 1794. Danton was a very vital leader in the French revolution, and he was the founder president of the Committee of Public Safety a position he served diligently with humility towards everyone. Georges Danton together with his followers had been facing serious allegations of being in the forefront to restore the monarchy in France, and their trial was set to commence at Paris Revolutionary tribunal.
Being well conversant with the law and at the same time very cunning, Danton managed to turn the tribunal in his favor and the process making the judges believe he was an innocent person. Danton did not only stop at this point but further accused Robespierre of several criminal offenses producing concrete evidence of the claims that he was making. The convention exercised its power and, in a way, managed to convince the judges again to believe that Danton was guilty of the corruption allegations that were presented before him. Seeing the injustices at the tribunals, he said: “I will no longer defend myself, and let me be led to death.” (Doyle, A. M., 266)
