Boat Crash Statistics
The boat crash statistics provides several statistical relations which have a great significance. Several relationships can be established to help in determining whether a boat will crash or not. In this case, the major focus will be analyzing the different variables provided to establish whether there exists a correlation. The five groups established include: (1) Season that the trip was taken and whether the boat sank or not; (2) Years of Training and whether the boat sank or not; (3) If captain was married or not and whether the boat sank or not; (4) Age of Captain and Distance Traveled; and (5) Gender of Captain and Distance Traveled.
After conducting a Spearman’s who on the season the trip was taken and whether the boat sank or not, the Spearman’s rho value was 0.75 indicating a strong relationship between on whether a boat would sink based on the season the trip was taken. An educated guess would be that a trip taken in summer would have lower chances of the boat sinking than the one taken during winter. Similarly, after conducting a Spearman’s rho on years of training and whether the boat sank or not. A weak relationship was established with r = 0.36 and p = 0.11 implying a weak connection between the two.
