RE: Bereavement leave
In response to the organization’s plan to implement a company-wide policy about the bereavement leave that provides the same benefits to all employees, I have researched on the field and come up with some ideas that would be of great help. Amongst the ideas, there also includes specific items that relate to the bereavement leave that will have to be addressed in the policy so as to ensure there exists compliance with the employment jurisdiction. I have researched in the following areas;
How close is the bereaved person to an employee(family member )
Leave duration
The leave qualification criteria
If the leave is paid for or unpaid
How close is the bereaved person to an employee?
Depending on the closeness of the dead person to an employee. A close family member, in this case, mother, father, husband or wife, a child should get instant leave.
Leave Duration
The duration of the leave should be based on the closeness of the dead person to an employee. The Manitoba is entitled to three-day length leave duration, a Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Labrador is also entitled to three days leave duration and Nova Scotia entitled to one day leave duration in certain cases.
The Leave Qualification Criteria
The Manitoba and the Newfoundland and Labrador should have worked in the organization for thirty days for them to qualify for leave. The Nova Scotia, on the other hand, has no qualifi…
