Experience at the Methodist hospital emergency department
Working as a volunteer at the Methodist hospital was a privilege that has ever happened in my life. I vividly recall the number of times that I sat at the hospital, holding back my tears for what I saw and touched with my own hands. Working with the ever-busy nurses did not only taught me the importance of determination but instilled the virtue of humanity and love for every patient in me. Learning how to use imaging machines, MRI, ultrasound, CT scan, thermometers and blood pressure measuring machines happened under the guidance of Dr. Robert. Working under the directions of four doctors who successfully treated Dominic of his goiter gave me the experience required in an emergency field.
It was through this incident that we followed all the procedures of emergency, performing serological tests, taking a neck scan and removing the thyroid glands which was at a point of suffocating him. I was moved by the number of ailing patients who thronged the hospital every day. One Monday morning, I did interview a few of them on what could be making them prone to avoidable diseases and accidents and how they wished to be treated, it was sad to learn that the majority of them had attended other hospitals which could not treat them well.
