Andrew Jackson vs. Today’s Leaders
President Andrew Jackson is one of the legend in the United States, mainly recognized for his bravery in the battle of New Orleans (Warshauer 5), which gave him the title, the ‘Old Hickory’ (Warshauer 4). Mainly for defeating the British and emerging unhurt. He was, however, charismatic, unpredictable, self-published and combative. He imposed martial laws, enabling him to punish his enemies (Cheathem 34) but was also quick to defend his citizens and country without waiting for anyone’s approval (Warshauer 6). Hence, being a hero of many Americans although he did not lack a few critics. His form of administration has made him quite comparable with today’s leaders with a few indicating the differences and similarities between him and President Donald Trump (The New Old Hickory 1).
A few people view the president Donald Trump as the modern day Andrew Jackson, nonetheless, there are some similarities between the two that could warrant a comparison. The two have no tolerance for corruption.
