Madagascar as a tourist destination is among the world’s most sought after. This is due to the island’s biological diversity, and the habitation of rare species. It also has attractive beaches and clear waters that attract a myriad of tourists each year. It is known for wildlife tourism and destinations for ecotourism (Tourism, N.d, N.p). However, tourism has come under threat as the political unrest in the region has gained notoriety. With political unrest, comes violence, which is one of the major tourist repellants.

The move was highly controversial and was rejected by the international communities.
