Students are among the most popular victims of stress. Most of the students’ stress is induced by issues such as family expectations, over-commitment, workload, financial expenses, and deadlines. Although having a mild amount of stress is considered to be a motivating factor to students, too much stress is likely to interfere with a student’s daily life. Personally, I do have ways of handling the stress that I encounter as a nursing student. I always believe that stress management is vital and it helps one to avoid some medical complications and one becomes more efficient, competent and productive (Labrague, 2014). Some of the types of stress that I encounter include strict deadlines and schedules, low grades, balancing my academic life with social life, and some challenging classes.
Despite the stress that I encounter as a nursing student, I tend to use practical stress management techniques to deal with my worries. Good time management is a very effective character that relieves a lot of stress. As a student, one should design his or her timetable and ensure that she or he sticks to it (Labrague, 2014). Moreover, one needs to stay positive and not focus on negative aspects of a particular situation. Staying negative makes one be hampered by mental stress that may result in one being inefficient and incompetent.
