Scientific Research in the Middle Ages
Scientific studies are methods of investigation that starts with problem identification after which observations and experiments are used to test the hypothesis. Carrying out scientific research in a primitive society or during the Middle Ages was a challenging venture due to the reasons presented in this paper.
The first reason for this difficulty in research is that, to facilitate scientific research within a societal context a researcher needs to interact with the respondents. Primitive societies were in most cases rigid in allowing new people within their cultures. Most primitive societies’ members were hostile due to illiteracy. It was also impossible to explain to them the need to carry out an investigation into their cultures. Leaning the way these societies’ members thought was hard since interacting with them to was difficult.
Another reason for barriers to scientific research in a primitive society or during the Middle Ages was the lack of adequate technology to facilitate the research process. Scientific investigations rely on the use of technology which was lacking in primitive societies and during the Middle Ages. Thru this period, there was minimal or no formal education.
