Also called real or material evidence, physical evidence refers to all objects at a crime scene, which can help to establish the commission of a crime and link the perpetrator to the offense. When criminalists arrive at a crime scene, they make efforts to keep other people away from the area to avoid tampering with the evidence before they have collected enough of what they need.
