Indeed, in this digital era, a lot has changed in the music industry from the time of pre-conception of the internet. During the last part of the 20th century, the global recorded music industry was at its peak which prevailed for the most quarter of the century. However, things started changing for the industry when Shawn Fanning lead group teen hackers who stirred up the unpredictable motion that ultimately destabilized the music industry foundations. Thanks to the advancing digital age, the hackers enabled to download and sharing of music without legal compensation of the copyright owners. Although the Napster eventually ceased operating, other new file sharing soon emerged and further caused menace for music industry establishment. Although the traditional music industry applied stricter approaches, both legally and technically to prevent the online-piracy distribution services, for instance, The Pirate Bay, Napster, Grokster, Kazaa, DC++ and Limewire, the mechanism failed to achieve its purpose.
