Hip-hop music as its origins in the United States especially from young African Americans. It is music that developed in the 70s and has grown to become one of the world’s influential forms of music with influences from all over the world. One of the areas of the world that have been influenced by hip-hop music is Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is known for its wide variety of music genres. Hip-hop music is a genre of music that is loved by young people from all over the world, and this is the same in Kazakhstan, the rap scene in Kazakhstan is said to have appeared after the disbanding of the Soviet Union and its influence rose as a result of the use of the Russian language in the songs (Semyon, 2007). It has thus grown to be one of the most popular forms of contemporary music in the country, especially among the youth. Various elements of hip-hop music greatly attract the youths. The rhythmic nature associated with rapping attracts the youths because of the incorporation of poetic elements and adding rhythm and other elements of music (Straight Outta Kazakhstan, Rapping in Russian, 2018). Hip – hop is more than just a music genre because it is also a culture that defines peoples, a way of life. Aspects such as Djing, graffiti also characterize it and also break dancing.
