Technology and Naval Commerce in the Last Decade
In the last decade, technology has advanced in many ways and hence causing businesses as well as other human activities to flourish (Woodford 10). What people felt hard to imagine could be among people in the society is now in our day to day activities. For instance, ten years ago people could only use letters for purposes of reaching others; it took a longer time to reach the recipient. No one could have imagined he/she can communicate other people around the world within a fraction of a second. Today, people are passing information and ideas to their friends, workmates and even families around the world through gadgets known as phones. Moreover, technology has led to the improvement of businesses. Naval commerce that has been helping many nations around the world to construct firearms; fighter ships and other water related fighters has advanced to an extent that many nations are enjoying due to the growing technology (Pryor 9). However; technology has impacted naval commerce in many ways in the last decade.
First, technology has boosted transport and communication that helps to link Naval Commerce with traders in all around the world (Lewis 14). A successful business is one that acts by creating a firm customer base. Naval businesses in all over the world want to partner with the most influential countries in the world. For instance, China has attracted the attention of many naval businesses in all around the world. It’s due to its ready market as well as resources that boost the construction of warships, electronics, and other firearms. Moreover, China is more connected and, as a result, it has many supporters. China naval businesses have grown. They are producing fighters that are attracting customers from all corners of the world (Zhou 44). The technology that China has been using since the last decade has more to do with modern equipment and knowledge; researchers spend most of their time finding new and modified equipment.
Technology has also boosted the education sectors. People from all over the world can enroll naval engineering courses at any learning institution in the world. Many people are attaining degree, masters and PhDs through online studies. The world has now been full of elites in the naval construction profession. Naval commerce has now been surrounded by people who have knowledge of creating ships and firearms that can compete with others worldwide (Howard 8). Regarding management, naval commerce has improved. Personnel from high learning institutions are joining the business. They have the idea of what is required as far as naval management is concerned. By boosting education, technology has caused naval commerce more good and hence boosting the economy.
The modern technology has also led to the construction of most powerful firearms in the world. With the combination of knowledge that people have gained through the modern technology and proper naval commerce management, firearms such as Shipboard Autonomous Firefighting Robot (SAFFiR) have been constructed. It was presented at the Naval Future Force Science and Technology EXPO. The United States of America Navy presented the humanoid robot for the purpose of firefighting. The robot was designed and formed on metal; also the technology that was used would ensure it has the support that will keep it standing with efficient power throughout as it fights fire. After the experiment, it was proved that the robot would overcome any form of fire without itself getting destroyed. It thus gave naval commerce more motivation and power to carry out each day operations. Other than the robot, there are many other firearms that have been constructed; water ships that are designed to work under water and even outside the marine environment (McBride 33).
Technology has also boosted innovation in the last decade. Comparing the warships that were constructed in those ages of sail and the ones constructed today, there is much difference in design and modification (Schilling 20). The warships of today combine several features. For instance, they have the ability to support themselves as well as supporting other ships in the battle. Moreover, most of the warships are modified using steel. On the contrary, not all nations have reached to the technology of using steel. Most of the steel warships are seen in America and some few of its allies. The design has improved the security department of most nations and as a result, increasing their reputation. Some nations have also emulated the use of the modern technology in constructing “Green Ship,” it’s the name given to all sea vessels that are modified to reduce energy consumption and emission of gases (Libecap 19). One of the best warships in the world is known as U.S.S Zumwalt. The United States of America constructed it to keep its superiority over China. The warship is worth $7 billion. The features and modification of U.S.S Zumwalt surpass any other ship in the world.
Competition has also become rampant in naval commerce following the modern technology. Many nations are working not only to secure their people but also to secure top positions in terms of warships. The United States; for instance, has been the top most nation in terms of constructing warships and other fighters. It has been using the highest technology ever that many nations have not seen yet. A nation like China has not been left behind also. It has fought to pass America in terms of firearms, but its efforts bore no fruits. The reason is America has a firm economy. It has strong financial bases that ensure all its operations run efficiently. On the contrary, many nations that are fighting to overcome the United States rely on them for loans as well as grants. It was thus very hard to develop warships that surpass the ones America has. Moreover, the United States of America has many allies from all over the world. As a result, it gets support in terms of ideas, resources and skilled personnel from any country of their choice. Due to competition, enmity has also come along. Nations which does not accept defeat find themselves attacking America directly or indirectly. Directly, they may send their warships to test those of Americans and indirectly, they may talk ill of the American technology like Turkey.
In conclusion, technology brought a lot of changes in naval commerce. The changes were shown by the strengthening of security due to the construction of powerful warships that surpassed those of early days. Advancement in education sectors gave people a chance to learn about the modern technology and how they can use it to improve naval commerce. Though, many nations used the technology to boost their businesses and security, competition came along and, as a result, bringing enmity between some popular and less popular nations.
