Having an effective communication skill in a film is very critical as it enables the audience to connect with the characters. By use of non-verbal communication skills, characters can communicate effectively (Gregory 238). In the film East Side Sushi directed by Anthony Lucero, the characters are able to communicate effectively through the use of gestures and facial expressions. The gestures used and facial expression are so explicit in such a way that the audience can connect with the emotions of the characters. For instance, at one incidence the main character Juana is seen arguing with her father. Through the expressions and gestures used by both Juana and her father, one can tell that there is a serious disagreement between them since she eventually leaves the scene angry with her daughter. Also, when Juana is talking to the owner of the sushi restaurant asking to be given a chance as a chef, she used relevant gestures and facial expression to express herself clearly (Lucero).
Confidence is a vital aspect of communication (Gregory 8). I strongly believe that Juana has the most effective communication skills. She can be regarded to have a confident personality. For instance, when she is attacked by thieves when selling puddings, she confidently tries to defend herself from them although they manage to steal from her in the long run (Lucero).
