Reflection.
I have one score for the yes column on both self-assessment and assessing others. From this score, I understand that currently I have no drug problems and neither do any of the people close to me. I am in perfectly good health. Drug dependency seems to come from the extended use of drugs to avoid problems, as a coping mechanism. Drug addiction stems from habitual drug use which then becomes an integral part of a drug user’s life such that they may neglect their health, work and responsibilities to attend to their drug cravings. Drug abuse and dependency may harm the lives of the abusers as well as those close to them.
It is possible to live a healthy lifestyle while using drugs if one is responsible. When a person is living a balanced life, it is hard to develop a drug dependency or abuse problem since drug dependency stems from using drugs to fill a void or to avoid confronting issues.
The war on drugs can be won by creating awareness about the issue, having clear rules and bodies to enforce them (Howard 369), having health facilities and specialists to help those with drug abuse problems. Improvi…
