Definition and Use of Temperament
Every sane person has a unique way in which he or she behaves, thinks and responds to issues that they encounter on daily basis. The ability of a person to voluntarily, or involuntarily have a specific character, thinking, behaviour or actions make up the person’s temperament. In this regard, some people’s temperament portrays a happy person, jovial and ever smiling. On the contrary, some people have a negative attitude in almost all the aspects of life; they are aggressive, unhappy, ungrateful and ready to wage war even on the slightest provocation. Peoples’ temperaments are always naturally acquired, and it may be hard to artificially modify. This paper looks into the people’s temperaments as related to career choice and healthy social life.
The Daily Use of Temperament
In many cases, the television news anchors temperaments are positive while on the screen. It is very rare to find them unhappy and frowning on television. They wear a jovial look; a happy mood and must always be welcoming. This same case also applies to teaching where the teachers must always show jovial mood and happiness to their students. However, some people who work under strenuous conditions, doing hard manual labour rarely show positive temperament while at work. This may result to the high-level concentration that they need to put in their jobs.
Doctors and psychologists use temperament to determine the health condition of an individual (Greenbaum 7). When a person’s behavior adversely deviates from what the normal behaviour is, and he or she seems to be mindless of the changed behaviour, doctors can easily conclude that the person is insane. This is important in diagnosing such people who are supposed to show great consistency and positivism in their behaviour.
Influence of Temperament on Career Choice
Temperament is largely natural. A person can be able to show artificial temperament for a short time, and get away with it. However, in a case that involves career choice, it is difficult for a person to fake their temperament throughout their career lives. It is therefore very important that the choice of career works in line with the person’s normal moods. Before choosing a cause, I must consider whether the cause needs a jovial mood all the time or not. A choice of career that is not in line with a person’s temperament may become a reason for low-quality service delivery in future. Jovial people should therefore consider becoming teachers, television anchors or nurses where the jovial mood is needed on daily basis.
Importance of Temperament
Many corporate complain that the graduates do not deliver in their work. However, the reason to deliver quality work may be caused by the conflicting issues between their temperament and career choices (Greenbaum 7-8). When choosing careers today, people should get sufficient counseling and choose a career that conforms to their normal lives, not fabricated moods.
Learned Lessons on Temperament
I have come to realize that mood is very important in the choice of career. Though everybody should be happy at any time, the jovial mood may be of less attribute to a firefighter. Those people who respond to disasters may not find jovial temperament helping. However, some career choices will need a natural jovial temperament. Naturally, most television viewers would be turned off when the anchor comes on stage with a bad mood and poor attitude. Career choice therefore, should be informed by a person’s temperament. People should get constant advice on their choice of activities based on their temperaments.
