Due to increased industrial activity, South Asia is among the most polluted regions of the world. Air pollution is recognized as being a critical health concern for the region, with millions of people being exposed to poisoned air on a daily basis. Pollution is mainly the result of the burning of biomass and fossil fuels as a result of human activities. Recognized as being among the most industrialized regions of the world, South Asia has lagged in the implementation of legislation that can aid in curbing industrial pollution.
